Hyperinsulinemia Causing Chronic Pain – Gurpreet Padda: Episode 33

Hyperinsulinemia turns chronic pain into a systemic, metabolic inflammatory problem on top of its physical source. Hyperinsulinemia means too much insulin in the blood. The standard American diet drives it: vegetable oils, processed carbs and excess sugar. In this episode, Dr. Gurpreet Singh Padda, MD, MBA, MHP explains how he found that link in his own patients.

Dr. Padda is an interventional pain physician. He treats patients with deep, chronic, severe pain that does not let up. Over time he saw that there was more to their pain than its physical source. It was also a systemic, metabolic inflammatory problem, and hyperinsulinemia was at the root of it.  He found that most of his patients were obese and either pre-diabetic or diabetic. He found that most of them also had leaky gut. All of this was caused by the standard American diet (SAD): vegetable oils, processed carbs and too much sugar. He talks about how junk food companies push the fructose level higher than regular high-fructose corn syrup. They do it to make the food more addictive. What he is doing in the community is astounding. They have over 65,000 active patients in their online program, which is totally free. He even puts more than a million dollars of his own money into the program every year. You can find out more about this program at reversingdiabetesmd.com.
